Broňa’s Learning Story

1. What’s your mother tongue?

Czech but my Czech grammar skills are super low.

2. What foreign languages do you speak?

English and if I am thirsty or/and hungry I try any language.

3. What is your favourite language? Why?

English. It is awesomely international.

4. Do you remember your first English lesson? Tell me any details you can remember. How did you feel?

I started learning on my own as a total beginner. I still remember how difficult and rewarding it was.

5. Do you have a favourite English word or phrase? Why do you like it?

East or west, home is best. It is the first English proverb I learnt. I was so excited I told just about everyone.

6. Are you studying English at the moment? Why? Where? Do you have a teacher? How often do you study?

Always. Most of the time when people ask me something I don’t know yet - I have to find out so I can tell them.

7. What do you like (or love!) about the English language? Why?

That it now truly connects the whole wide world.

8. What do you not like (or hate)? Why? What do you find most challenging?

I just feel that the divorce between spelling and pronunciation was really unfortunate for us students…

9. What do you want to be doing better in English in the future? Why are you learning?

I want to be better at praising and encouraging people, spreading love and happiness.

10. Do you have a personal learning tip for others?

Do what you love until you love what you do. If you love detective stories, read detective stories, if you love football follow and watch football in English etc.
