My name is Katerina Lanickova and I often find it difficult to say what I do for a living. As many other professionals in the ELT industry, I kind of “wear many hats”:
I use my background in education & teaching and the skills I acquired along the way to empower new lecturers in their role at the University of Applied Sciences in Vienna - through coaching, giving teacher training workshops and helping them with the development and design of blended learning material.
When not at university, I’m exploring the field of materials writing and as a part of a team I develop elearning material that accompanies various Austrian textbooks, my task being the creation of animated explainer videos. And I teach every now and then so I don’t lose the classroom connection…
These are what one might say my “day jobs”.
As I partly work as a freelancer, I have some flexibility to plan my schedule and to start various creative projects on the side. One of them is my very favourite Study Newsletter (welcome to my Study Newsletter webpage)! You only need three things to read it: a cup of coffee, a few minutes during your day and a place you find suited to learning: your sofa, the UBahn or your garden. Up to you.
If you’d like to find out more about my work journey, which led me from the Czech Republic to Berlin to London all the way to Vienna, check out my profile on LinkedIn.
